Updates on Previews to be Known

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I realized that unlike new submissions, which are easy to find (sorting of the songs, plus they appear on the home page),

the songs which get a edit, and a preview update are not easy.

Since the submission date for those doesnt change, only SSRs will realize it changed (because they update it),

and the community at large doesnt get the chance to know about these new songs.

Maybe we can change that.

One option would be the submission date of the song to change to the date the last edition to it was made.

That way it will show on the Solo Hall or whenever. (And also on the "Most Recent Solo submissions" )

Another option is to make a separate section for it to highlight them, but this one might be too much work.

Hmm, I wonder if there are more ways to do it.

I'm iffy about this, because currently we actually sort the main hall pages via record id this prevents any mess ups or oddities when using date potentially. I would have to completely change the sorting for all the music halls for it to go by date, and recent edit date.

Right now, only SSRs know if a song has been re-edited, unless it's an entirely blatant change.

Perhaps there could be a "Last Edited: (insert time frame here)" shown somewhere.

Well it does show that, but when your viewing the record. Not anything on the listing page.

Thats why I was saying that perhaps this whole "edit" thing, isnt the best way to handle big changes in songs.

Maybe there would be an option for the submitter to choose their work to be

"erased then remade as a new song", or "remain as just an edit".

If not possible, I guess there is no way other than personally letting it be known.

The new unapprove system has helped with a few concerns i had, and I am thankful,  but still doesnt solve the visibility for other users.

However, now I dont consider such a big need anymore, so I would like to retract this suggestion, users are perfectly able to look regularly at their favorite songs and notice if one updated.
